US Assistant Secretary Donald Lu Rejects Imran Khan's Allegations Regarding Ciphers as Falsehoods

During his testimony before a subcommittee of the US panel, Donald Lu, US Assistant Secretary of State, unequivocally dismissed former Prime Minister Imran Khan's allegations regarding ciphers, branding them as baseless conspiracy theories and outright falsehoods. He emphasized that Khan's claims lacked accuracy and did not implicate the US government or himself personally in any actions against Khan. Moreover, Lu highlighted that Pakistan's then-ambassador to the US, Asad Majeed, had also testified to his own government, confirming the absence of any conspiracy.

The hearing, titled "Pakistan After the Elections: Assessing the Future of Democracy in Pakistan and the US-Pakistan Relationship," was announced by the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee, where Lu faced inquiries regarding the allegations and provided his assessment.

Lu reiterated that Asad Majeed had testified to the Pakistani government, reinforcing the absence of any conspiracy. He underscored the US's commitment to respecting Pakistan's sovereignty and reiterated the principle of allowing the Pakistani people to choose their leaders through democratic processes.
