Saudi Arabia Introduces Tougher Measures Against Unlicensed Transportation Providers

Saudi Arabia has introduced significant fines for transport operators working without proper authorization in the country, as part of efforts to enhance the transportation industry.

Reportedly, individuals found transporting passengers without a valid permit will face a hefty fine of SR5,000. The Saudi Transport General Authority (TGA) has urged unlicensed operators to register with authorized companies to improve transportation services.

Additionally, the authorities have announced incentives and support programs for compliant transporters, aiming to ensure the safety and efficiency of passenger travel.

To raise awareness about licensed transportation services, various ministries and agencies in Saudi Arabia have launched the #DontrideWithNonLicensed campaign. This initiative, led by the TGA in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, the Pilgrim Experience Program, the Public Prosecution, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), and MATARAT Holding Company, aims to educate the public about the importance of using licensed transportation companies, particularly for travel to and from airports across the Kingdom.

Saudi airports, including King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, offer a wide range of transportation options for travelers. These include nearly 2,000 taxis, over 55 car rental offices, public transport buses, licensed passenger transport apps, and the Haramain High-Speed Railway.

The regulation of the transportation sector underscores the government's commitment to ensuring safe and reliable travel experiences for residents and visitors alike.
